Hooking AI up to the builder — what it takes, and what it saves

The build is fast. Writing the words is the part that eats your afternoon. Connecting AI takes about two minutes and turns 30-60 minutes of writing per site into about ten seconds — here's exactly how to do it, and what it costs.

The site itself builds in minutes. That part genuinely isn't the bottleneck.

The bottleneck is the words. Every client needs a hero line that doesn't sound like every other tradesman's website, service descriptions that read like a person wrote them, and an about section that sounds like this business and not a template with the name swapped. That's the half-hour that turns a fifteen-minute build into an afternoon.

You can write it yourself — the software ships with a writer built in and no account required. Or you can connect AI and hand that half-hour to a machine. Here's what connecting actually involves, and what it does and doesn't buy you.

It's one key and one field

There's no integration to configure, no OAuth dance, no plan to pick.

  1. Get an API key from Anthropic. It's a normal signup, and it's pay-as-you-go — no monthly minimum, no seat fee, nothing to cancel later.
  2. Open Settings in your dashboard and paste it into the AI field.
  3. Save.

That's it. The generate buttons appear across the builder and it starts working. If you'd rather keep keys out of the dashboard entirely, you can set it as an environment variable on your host instead — same result.

Leave it empty and nothing breaks. The software checks whether a key is present and, if it isn't, shows a short config card where the generate button would be. Everything else keeps working exactly as it did.

What it switches on

Four things, all inside the tools you're already using:

  • Whole-site copy. Feed it the business name, trade, and city from the build form and it writes the hero, the services, and the about section in one pass.
  • Section refinement. Don't like a paragraph? Regenerate that block on its own instead of redoing the page.
  • Individual blocks. Rewrite one headline or one service description without touching anything else.
  • Outreach drafts. The cold-email tool will draft the message for a specific business rather than making you fill in a template by hand.

The swap you're actually making

What if you didn't have to build the machine yourself?

The site builder, the client list, the word-for-word scripts, and your own Stripe — the whole system, already built and ready to run. A one-time $199.

Here's the trade in one line, and it's the reason this feature exists at all:

Thirty to sixty minutes of writing per site becomes a five to ten second call — for a couple of cents.

That's not a marketing figure. That's the estimate written into the software's own source, by the person who built it, next to the code that makes the call.

Build ten sites in a month and that's somewhere between five and ten hours you didn't spend staring at a blank hero section. What you do with those hours is your business — more outreach, more clients, or just your evening back.

What it costs, precisely

Two levels, because they're genuinely different:

  • One section — a headline, a service description, a single regeneration — is two or three cents. You could regenerate the same block thirty times over and still not clear a dollar.
  • A whole site, written in one pass, is about a dime. Even at the absolute ceiling the software allows, it can't get past about eleven cents.

Set that next to the job. You charge $500 to build the site and $50 a month to keep it running. The writing that used to cost you the better part of an hour now costs less than a stamp.

The rented site builders charge $97 to $300 every month whether you build anything or not. Here you pay for the generations you actually run, and if you don't run any, you're billed nothing at all.

Where it doesn't do the work for you

Three honest limits, because a tool oversold is a tool you stop trusting.

It writes a strong first draft, not a finished page. Read it before you send the preview. It'll get the trade and the tone right; it can't know that this particular owner refuses to say "affordable" or that they stopped doing emergency call-outs last year.

It's only as good as what you feed it. Give it the business name, the trade, the city, and a couple of real reviews and the copy is genuinely good. Give it three words and you'll get three words' worth back.

It's optional, permanently. The built-in writer isn't a crippled demo that nags you to upgrade — it's the default path, and plenty of sites ship on it. Connecting AI is a speed upgrade you can take or leave, and you can pull the key back out whenever you want.

The short version

Two minutes to connect. A couple of cents per generation, about a dime for a whole site. Thirty to sixty minutes of writing per site handed off, for less than the cost of the coffee you were drinking while you did it.

The builder, the writer, and the client system are one thing you own outright.

You just got the whole playbook — free

Let it write the boring half.

Paste one key and the builder writes the hero, the services, and the about section in about ten seconds — for about a dime. Skip it entirely and the built-in writer still ships the site. Either way it's yours, one time, no monthly fee to us.
